After Care For Your Kitchens & Bathrooms
Bathrooms
- Upon installation of your new bathroom and before its first use, it is possible to help maintain longevity of your white seals and grout lines by taking a new, white, tapered candle and running it gently along each run. This helps ‘waterproof’ the surface making it less susceptible to moulding.
- If possible dry all surface in your bathroom daily, including around and in the sink, shower enclosures, wetwall and tiled splashbacks. Karchers, (window vacuums) or soft absorbent car towels make light work of this job and the effort will keep your bathroom looking new for longer.
- Do not use any chemicals on your wetwall surface.
- To clean a build your shower head, pour 1 cup of water and 1 cup of vinegar into a plastic bag. Secure the plastic bag over your shower head with a rubber band so that the head is submerged fully. Let stand for 30 minutes or longer then rinse by running a hot water shower.
- When cleaning your new WC, use a plastic toilet brush to eliminate the possibility of scratching or discolouration.
- Likewise, choose white or colourless toilet cleaning fluids to ensure no staining.
- After showering and bathing, ensure adequate ventilation is operational either by opening a window or turning on your Ikon Air/Extractor fan. Humidity and Damp causes fungi and mould to breed.
- Keep plug holes free from the build-up of hair conditioner and hair to ensure constant, speedy and adequate flow for drainage.
- Do not ignore any leaks or damp areas coming from any area within your bathroom. Always consult a professional to ensure a bigger problem is not being hidden.
- A spray bottle filled with a mixture of white wine vinegar and water is handy for helping keep limescale build up at bay and for removing soap scum marks from glass/acrylic bath and shower screens.
- To keep chrome taps and pop up wastes gleaming, simply rub with shaving cream and wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth.
- If you are leaving tins or cans on bathroom surfaces, dab some clear nail polish on the underside and allow to dry. This will stop the rust staining your surface.
- If you happen to have copper or brass taps in your bathroom you can keep them tarnish free and shining using tomato ketchup. Simply dab some onto a soft, dry cloth and rub gently. Finally rinse with warm water.
- For porcelain sinks, a mixture of cream of tartar and water works a treat.
- WHERE POSSIBLE, ALWAYS FOLLOW MANUFACTURERS OR INSTALLERS GUIDELINES AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARE. IF IN DOUBT, ALWAYS TEST IN AN INCONSPICUOUS AREA FIRST.
